Cold Freight Out of the Raisin Capital

Ninety percent of America’s raisins are grown within eight miles of our yard. That’s the kind of place Selma is — a farm town at the crossroads of Highway 99 and Highway 43, surrounded by more perishable freight per square mile than almost anywhere in the country.

Spider Trans hauls that freight. We’re a refrigerated carrier running three trucks out of Selma, moving produce, fresh and frozen meat, and dry goods for growers, packers and distributors across the Central Valley. We’ve held active interstate authority since 2022.

We’re not the biggest carrier you’ll call. That’s rather the point. When you book a load with us, you’re talking to the person responsible for it — not a dispatch desk three states away that treats your pallets as a line item. You get a direct number, a straight answer on whether we can cover your lane, and the same small group of drivers every time.

Why Central Valley Shippers Call Us

You get the same trucks and the same drivers

Three trucks and three drivers means the person handling your load already knows your dock, your paperwork and how you like it loaded. Continuity isn’t a policy here — it’s just arithmetic.

Temperature is set before we roll, not after

The reefer is pre-cooled and the set point confirmed against your bill of lading before the doors close. Most temperature claims trace back to a trailer that was never brought down to spec in the first place.

We answer the phone

One number, answered by someone who knows where the trucks are. If we can’t cover your lane, you’ll hear that immediately instead of losing a day waiting on a callback.

Verifiable, not just claimed

USDOT 3973481. MC-1485546. Active interstate authority since 2022, no reportable crashes in the last 24 months. Look us up on FMCSA’s SAFER database before you call — we’d rather you did.

We Know These Lanes Because We Live On Them

Selma sits where Highway 99 meets Highway 43, which makes it the practical hub for southeast Fresno County and the top of Tulare and Kings counties. Highway 180 is eleven miles north. Highway 41 is fifteen miles northwest. Interstate 5 is fifty-two miles west when a load needs to head up or down the state.

What that means in practice: we can be at a packing shed in Kingsburg, Parlier or Fowler inside fifteen minutes, at most Fresno cold-storage docks in half an hour, and in Visalia or Hanford well within the hour. When a shipper calls at eleven in the morning needing something moved that afternoon during peak harvest, proximity is the whole ballgame.

We also know what the calendar does to this valley. Tomatoes run July through September. Table grapes and raisins hit late summer into fall. Citrus carries the winter. Capacity gets tight exactly when everyone needs it at once, which is why shippers with recurring volume tend to lock in a dedicated arrangement before the season rather than during it.

Where We Haul

Our trucks run west cost to south, and south to west coast.

Common Questions

Whatever the commodity needs. Leafy greens run around 34°F, berries closer to 32°F, tomatoes as warm as 55°F, and frozen product between −10°F and 0°F. You give us the set point on the bill of lading and we confirm it before the trailer is loaded.

We are an interstate carrier, so there is no hard limit. Most of our work is Central Valley pickups running in-state or to neighbouring states. Give us the lane and we will tell you straight whether it is a fit.

A day or two is comfortable most of the year. During peak harvest, roughly July through October, as much notice as you can give us. Three trucks fill up fast in September.

A carrier. We own the trucks and employ the drivers. Your freight goes on our equipment, not re-brokered to someone you have never heard of.
